We use Vonage at home and we've been happy with the service. It was easy to move from apartment to apartment in TX and it was even simple to change our number when we moved to GA. The thing that I'm upset about isn't really their fault, other than the lack of notification. It seems that every 3-4 months my bill goes up. The cost of my service is always the same (Except for 1 time in 12/2005 when we used 411 twice not knowing that it was 99 cents a pop!) $14.95, but the taxes change all the damn time. Now we have a local state 911 fee of $1.50 on top of the federal 911 fee of 99 cents. Because of all these taxes my $15 phone service now costs $21.02!!!

This fee is aparently the "Georgia Emergency Telephone Number “911” Service Act of 1977". I thought the federal 911 recovery fee was supposed to be paid out to the states so that they could provide 911 service. Why the heck am I being charged twice?

Does anyone out there still have a normal land line? Do your taxes keep going up every few months too?
